Infinitum: Inspect Philippians 1Sample

Infinitum: Inspect Philippians 1

DAY 4 OF 4

Remember, INSPECT provides a simple, customized means of optimizing your time in God’s Word. Each letter in the word INSPECT represents something for which you’ll look in today’s passage:

I - Insight to gain

N - nugget of the passage

S - sin to avoid or confess

P - promise to claim

E - example to follow

C - command to obey

T - truth to know

Invent your own legend (map) so that whenever you come across one of these components, you mark your Bible appropriately. For example, whenever you find a promise to claim, you might highlight it yellow; a sin to avoid/confess might be highlighted red; an example to follow could be highlighted green; a command to obey with blue, and so on. Work out your own legend and mark the chart above.

If you are working on paper, you might decide that whenever you find a promise to claim, you will double underline it; a sin to avoid/confess might be marked by a circle; a squiggly underline could identify an example to follow; a command to obey with a box. Work out your own legend and mark the chart above.

First, you pray. Ask God to reveal his will in this passage. Then, you take our passage and read it. Then read it again, looking for an insight to gain—mark it (according to your legend—purple highlight or underline or...). Read it again for each of the other components. Then pray it through.

Remember that we are gazing through the Infinitum lens of Surrender, Generosity, and Mission.

The Infinitum: Inspect Philippians 1 reading plan is now over. Congratulations. Why not invite a few friends to continue with you into the sequel, Infinitum: Inspect Philippians 2?

Infinitum is a way of life centered on following Jesus by loving God and loving others through an emphasis on the habits and disciplines of surrender, generosity, and mission (see Infinitum app or InfinitumLife.com for more). We aim to see the Bible and also the world through these Jesus-colored lenses.

Infinitum is actuated by hubs, small, closed, set groups (often of just two people) committed to meeting weekly and praying and discussing real-life issues around the Infinitum disciplines of surrender, generosity, and mission. Hubs provide the context for accountability, discipleship, and spiritual guidance.
