Finding Faith in the Storm

DAY 5 OF 7

It's your decision!

"Do you have any to-go cups here? Could I please take some of this delicious coffee with me?", I asked the friendly woman in charge of the hotel's breakfast buffet. The coffee had really helped perk me up that morning, and after a short night, I knew I'd need more caffeine than usual that day!

I looked around the hotel. All kinds of people sat everywhere. Some looked as if they were on vacation, while others ate their breakfasts in suits, working on laptops as they prepared final details for upcoming meetings.

We all start at the same place. We all start at breakfast, and yet, we're so different! Each person has a different task, a different path, yet we all begin in the same place and have the freedom to choose how the day ahead of us will unfold. That morning, I chose to have lots of coffee because I knew I'd need it. Maybe someone in that hotel had stayed in bed, too tired or weak to reach for that nearby hot beverage that could've really helped. Or maybe one of the busy businessmen was in such a rush that he chose to skip his morning cup. We are all free to decide our individual path!

When I went to pay for my room and breakfast, the woman told me, "Oh, breakfast is already included with your room!" Something clicked spiritually for me in that moment: once we've given our lives to Jesus, everything is included: soul rest, peace, forgiveness, wisdom, love, great ideas for our jobs, and much more!

But we all are free to choose our next step. If you need more coffee for the day, you have to reach for a to-go cup. It's available (and free!), but you need to take it! You are also free to decide today whether or not you will reach out to Jesus.

Will you choose to reach out to Him today?

"Then Jesus said, 'Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'" (Matthew 11:28-29, NLT)

You are a miracle!
