Year of the Bible: Part Six of Twelve Sample
He is Good, for His Loving Kindness Endures Forever
Out of the millions of displaced Jews, a remnant of approximately fifty thousand people came to rebuild the temple because God moved on their hearts.
Many were worshipers, Levites, and people who had served at the last temple. They desired to worship and please God above anything.
They built the altar first; they did this despite the fear of the people, who were discouraging them from restoring and rebuilding God's promises.
It is fascinating to notice the Israelites' attitude. After years in captivity, displaced and far from their land, they finally returned to their home and found it destroyed. They lost everything except their courage and trust in God. Instead of caving into desperation, they gave thanks, praised, and worshiped God. Even when the temple construction stopped for about two decades, the people declared, "He is good. His love endures forever."
Question: What is your attitude when God's promise takes a long time or you encounter opposition?
Prayer: Remember, oh my soul, know that the Lord, He is God! He made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Let me enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name! For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations. Amen! (Adapted from Psalm 100).
