Discover your gifts and change the world
First read Exodus 4:10-12 and Nehemiah 5:1-12.
Moses thought he was not good enough to become a leader of many people. He saw only his weaknesses and was convinced that he could not fulfil God's commission (Exodus 4:10-12). In his opinion, his lack of rhetorical skills made it impossible to convince the Israelites that he was sent by God. When, after some time, Moses allowed himself to be encouraged by God to just go for it, he began to discover what was possible together with God – even though he actually couldn't speak very well at all. How is it with you? We too, often allow our current weaknesses, such as poor grades in school, to mask our talents and keep us from just going for it.
Maybe you've known what your gift is for a long time. If not, we can learn how to discover more about callings from the story of Nehemiah. Nehemiah was moved by the need around him, and he took action. To start looking for your previously undiscovered talents, you can first consider what moves you. Things that occupy or excite you are usually areas where you can make a difference. Maybe you will never become a gifted pianist, but you can help people in crisis situations with your organisational skills. Or you may be a passionate gardener in your spare time and discover that you have an agricultural solution to climate change. God didn't design you to settle for a little: He meant for you to do great things.
