Growing Your Marriage While a Spouse Is Away: 6 Ways to Protect Your MarriageSample
Pray For Your Spouse
Scripture instructs us to pray continuously. Several things happen when we pray: When I pray and set Micah and our marriage at the feet of Jesus, I am reminding myself that there is value in him and our relationship. In a sense I am training my mind to consider him, remember him, and draw near to him.
We know there is extreme value in what we tell ourselves and what our brain hears our mouth say. When I proclaim God’s goodness, protection, and sovereignty over my husband and our marriage, I am wiring my brain to remember its value. I am seeking God’s will and God’s perspective, and I’m pursuing unity in those with Micah, even as he is away.
Today’s challenge:
Pray these three things over your spouse who is away.
1. Lord, keep their heart soft to our marriage.
2. Help me to see and cherish them the way you do.
3. Keep our connection strong despite the distance.
Prayer:
Lord, today we are lifting our spouses to you, trusting you with our marriage, their heart, and their mind. We pray you will unite us in mind and thought, even across the physical distance. We pray that despite the distance from our spouse we find ways to keep you at the center of our marriage and that we find ways to draw near to one another.
About this Plan
My husband is gone more than he is home. Each deployment or work trip he takes contains mixed emotions, but there are also opportunities to invest in and protect my marriage, and to honor my husband in his absence. This 6-day plan by Tiffany Miller discusses ways to be on guard and fight for marriage when a spouse is away.
