Focus in MarriageSample
I STILL DO!
Story
Marriage is work for sure; however, the pleasure you can experience when you come together in agreement is priceless.
For years my husband and I forfeited the benefit of the law of agreement by being stubborn. I was so consumed with my feelings that I could not pay attention to my husband. When I received the revelation of love, it allowed me to see a bigger picture and become more intentional with demonstrating it in my marriage.
My marriage is not just about the pleasure I receive from it, but it is a ministry. That made my head swim for a while because I did not want that responsibility. Like it or not, we have no choice because Ephesians 6:31 says "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church." Your marriage is a ministry. We are responsible for showing the oneness that Christ has with the church. We are a picture, and when I learned that, I started to think about what image I was showing others.
Everything in life is as simple as making a decision. Now I know that some will struggle with that statement because they are looking for a way out. I never married to get out. I wanted better, but I did not know how to achieve better outside of the Word of God, nor are we supposed to. I had to die to myself and stop looking at my husband through the lens of hurt, disappointment, and rejection. I encourage you to get a new perspective and see your spouse through the lens of love so you can experience victory continuously. Allow love to become your focus.
We are responsible for loving like God loves and to honor and respect as He does. 1 Peter 3:1-2 amp says "In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands [subordinate, not as inferior, but out of respect for the responsibilities entrusted to husbands and their accountability to God, and so partnering with them] so that even if some do not obey the Word [of God], they may be won over [to Christ] without discussion by the godly lives of their wives, when they see your modest and respectful behavior [together with your devotion and appreciation—love your husband, encourage him, and enjoy him as a blessing from God]."
Challenge
Identify one great thing in your marriage and focus on that thing. Whatever you focus on will grow, so continue this challenge until you only see the good in your relationship.
WORD WEAPON
JOHN 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
