DAY 3 OF 21

GOD’S FATHER HEART FOR YOU

PSALM 86:15

Your past influences your present

Maybe you grew up without a dad. Perhaps your father, uncle, stepdad, mom, grandma—whoever raised you—treated you badly or did you wrong. Your childhood experience can influence your ideas of what your Heavenly Father is really like.

When you open your heart to God, you will discover He is a Loving Father who stands with you for life—no matter what. Jeremiah 31:3

How does God feel about your pain?

It hurts God’s heart to see you get hurt. God hates sin, knowing it always harms people. Psalm 11:5-7 & Genesis 6:5-6 Jesus wept with others who were in pain at a funeral. John 11:33-35

Why did God allow it to happen?

You may ask, “Why did God allow me to get hurt? Why didn’t He keep it from happening?” In Matthew 13:24-30 Jesus told a parable to answer this question. He explained the meaning of the story in Matthew 13:36-43.

God is merciful and gives people time to turn to Him. Ezekiel 18:23 If God removed people from earth as soon as they hurt someone, many children would be without fathers or mothers. Then families could lose their source of income, a place to stay. Just as the parable declares: if you pull out the weeds (the wicked), you might hurt the wheat (the innocent).

Why do bad things happen?

God gave all of us a free will. Deuteronomy 30:19 We decide how we want to live. Jesus came to the earth to show people to follow God, but many people choose rather to make sin part of their lives. John 3:19

Violence, abuse, addictions, rejection, etc. became a reality on earth, causing pain and suffering—even to innocent people. Genesis 6:11

You can’t blame God for what other people choose to do wrong even when it hurts you. He will deal with them in the end. Revelations 20:12 & Revelations 20:15

See the bigger picture

Remember you’re only here for a short while. Romans 8:18

What lies will you now stop believing about Father God?

Lord, thank you that You only have good intentions for my life. Please reveal Yourself to me so that I can see You for who You are. I open up my heart to You as my loving Father—in Jesus’s name, amen.

JEREMIAH 29:11
