Jesus rules the universe

“And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church” (Ephesians 1:22)

Jesus has humbled Himself deeply by being born as a human baby, being obedient to His human parents and His heavenly Father, bearing shame and scoffing and pain, and ultimately suffering a horrible death at the cross. But all this lasted only “a little while.” When Jesus’ earthly ministry was finished, God the Father crowned Him with glory and honor and put everything in subjection under His feet.

Jesus is now “far above all rule and authority and power and dominion,” both in this age and the one to come (Ephesians 1:21). So, not only is He stronger than anything in the universe when it comes to “physical power” or willpower, but He also has the highest position and authority. Human rulers and spiritual powers are under His control.

Hebrews 2 also notes that “at present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to Him.” But this will change! At the end of time, Jesus’ reign will be complete and visible. Then He will destroy Satan and his servants completely and make an end to all evil.
