The Road Less Traveled - a Lent Journey for Teens

DAY 12 OF 39

Peace

What is peace, exactly? Let’s do a quick Google search. Peace is freedom of disturbance or calmness. This means that your outward circumstances are favorable - nothing is bothering or upsetting you; everything is just great.

Now, if this is our definition of peace, Jesus did not have it. The friend he trusted with his ministry’s money was the one who betrayed him. His best friend denied he even knew Jesus. We could go on.

When we look at the Bible, Jesus is referring to a different kind of peace. Not the kind where all our circumstances are favorable or where our friends never disappoint us.

The peace Jesus brings is the peace that lives inside of us, despite our circumstances, our broken relationships, and our roller-coaster emotions.

Jesus then leaves this peace with us; he gives it to us. Because of this gift of peace, our hearts should not be troubled in uncertain times.

Let’s grow in this beatitude:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God”. Matt. 5:9 NIV

Go practice your faith this week:

Open your eyes to a place or situation where you can be a peacemaker and share this newfound peace with others.

About this Plan

The Road Less Traveled - a Lent Journey for Teens

Lent is where we walk with Jesus for 40 days. We are going to look at the Beatitudes of Jesus. These are sayings from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. We live in a world filled with uncertainty, fear and anxiety. The beatitudes invite us to live in a new way in this world of ours. Together, we are going to explore new ways to live life.
