Self-Love: 3 Ways to Love YourselfSample

Self-Love: 3 Ways to Love Yourself

DAY 3 OF 3

Love Your Soul

James 1:21 (AMP) says, “So get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word [of God] which is implanted [actually rooted in your heart], which is able to save your souls.”

In other words, humbly receiving the Word of God by allowing God’s Word to guide how we do life can save or protect our souls from destruction.

There is a battle over your soul- your mind, will, and emotion. God wants your soul so you can live for Him and have a peaceful life. The enemy wants to take over your mind, will, and emotion so he can torment and destroy you. When the enemy takes over a person’s mind, will, and emotion, they become possessed or influenced to harm themselves and others (Please read Mark 5:1-15; Mark 9:16-27). While some demonic influences are obvious, others are subtle and may manifest as addictions, lust, pride, or the love of money.

Psalm 19:7 (AMP) also says, “The law of the LORD is perfect (flawless), restoring and refreshing the soul; The statutes of the LORD are reliable and trustworthy, making wise the simple.”

Do you want a rejuvenated, living, and healthy soul? Let God’s Word become your soul food and soul music.

Speak life over your soul

Be intentional about what you say about your soul- mind, will, and emotion. Do you find yourself saying, “I have lost my mind” or “my emotion is always all over the place”? It is time to change your words and begin to speak God’s Word over your soul. Again, this is why studying and meditating on God’s Word is so important. As you start to pay attention to God’s Word, you will be empowered to speak life over your soul.

Most days, I declare, “Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits” (Psalm 103:2). When my soul is troubled due to unpleasant events, I declare, “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” (Psalm 43:5). I encourage you to hold these scriptures in mind as well.

In the name of Jesus, I pray that your soul will prosper (3 John 1:2)

You are a triune being possessing a spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Hence, self-love should encompass loving or caring for your spirit, soul, and body.

We hope this plan has encouraged you. Explore other great resources from Christian Mommas and kindly share this devotional with loved ones.
