Peace
"Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! 'Peace be with you,' he said." John 20:19
God's peace gives order. When our lives are sinking deep into a dark world of the unknown or when a crisis ushers in the unexpected, when there is a sudden change or simply blanks in the equation, the peace of God can erase those fears. As we come face to face with our own inadequacies, weaknesses, and mounting fears, we need to only remember that God’s peace comes quickly when we fix our eyes on Him.
With comforting assurance, God’s peace can flow into our souls and cover us with His calm presence. Only heavenly peace truly comforts us, and God's peace always eradicates fear. It’s a gift of such immense proportions that we can’t fathom its depth or breadth. When Jesus appeared to His disciples after the resurrection, it was peace that He communicated first. He knew this was their deepest need: to calm their fears and clear their minds.
God knows our anxious thoughts. His peace will cover you with clarity and order, which is more than a serene feeling. When we are trained to hear His voice and listen to what He says, we can tune out the other confusing voices. Our Father designed us to live and dwell in peace all day, every day. When you draw near to Jesus, you will receive this incredible peace.
Don’t let your heart be troubled. As you draw near, receive the peace of God which flows like a river. The peace-filled moments spent with Him collapse anxiety. Don’t dim this time with Him with your worries or fears. His peace reassures us of His love. If you hear voices of accusation, those aren’t from God. He speaks in love-tones, lifts your spirit, and crushes the words of shame.
God never calls you out by your shame but by your name. As you give over all your worries and fears into His capable hands, when unexpected news catches you off guard, pause before you respond by drinking in His peace that passes all understanding. Imagine the Good Shepherd standing right there with you. Peaceful assurance flows abundantly from His throne of grace. His all-sufficient peace is available to you in every situation.
What do you need to remove to receive God’s peace?
