What Is God’s Will for Me?Sample

What Is God’s Will for Me?

DAY 3 OF 5

God’s Will and the Church

Ephesians 5:17-19 “Therefore do not be unwise but understand what the will of the Lord is.

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”

Some things you do not have to pray about; you just simply know it is the will of God. For example, last week we had four windows repaired in our home. We sold our home and moved into an apartment while our new home is being built. Part of our responsibility was to make certain repairs for the new owners. The inspection report indicated we have four windows that lost their gas seals and, as a result, there is a condensation build-up. I called the Glass Doctor company here in Austin, and they did a great job. God gave me the opportunity to share Christ with them before they left. We had a great conversation and one guy remembered meeting my predecessor, Pastor Harold O’Chester, and said this about him, “I liked that guy; he told the truth!” It is God’s will for all followers of Jesus to tell others how they can be saved and go to heaven.

The Apostle Paul elaborates more on the will of God. We, as His children, can know God’s will for our lives. In addition to being filled with the Spirit, I believe it is God’s will we speak “to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” As we worship God with the Church, we speak truth over each other. Yes, you read that correctly, part of God’s will for your life is for you to be in the company of and in fellowship with other believers so you can speak truth, sing, and have a cheerful heart. More than ever, I think we need to be with the people of God praising Him and hearing the Word of God preached. I understand with Covid-19 some are unable to join in with other believers in person, but they can participate with the body of Christ online. It is not the same, but it is a blessing to be able to join in and accomplish God’s will for the follower of Jesus, albeit in a more creative way.

I absolutely love worshiping our great God with the people of God. It is important to sing lyrics that are doctrinally sound, songs that both worship the Lord and edify the church. God has blessed us at Great Hills Baptist Church with a dedicated and talented worship pastor in Jeff Fair. We do a variety of songs and styles, but each song hits the mark. I love and look forward to Sundays where I get the privilege of being in the presence of God with the people of God singing praise to God. What a joy!

Let me encourage you if you are not worshiping the Lord with God’s people, please get plugged in somewhere.
