Hope in the Midst of AnxietySample
Rest in Him
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22
God is a God of provision and aids you when you are in need. Anxiety can be a scary and overwhelming struggle to go through, but God can handle all of it. Nothing you go through is too much for Him to bear, and He wants to take all the things on your heart and mind. Let’s take a look at Nehemiah and what to do when we have anxiety and fear. Nehemiah prayed to God and asked for aid and God provided wisdom! He was a cupbearer to the king, so that meant he and to taste the wine before the king. If he lived after drinking, that meant the king was safe to drink it as well. One day the king noticed Nehemiah was sad:
“The the king said to me, ‘What do you request?’ so I prayed to the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 2:4
In this time, this could have cost Nehemiah his life because this was an offense. But God answered Nehemiah’s prayer and turned to his aid.
“I answered them by saying, ‘The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.’” Nehemiah 2:20
Nehemiah was aware God was with him! In times when we feel scared and at a loss, God is quick to come to our aid and not only support us but give us wisdom and endurance to keep fighting. In Matthew 6:34, Jesus tells us that he will equip us. Worrying about tomorrow and next year or next month is natural for me personally, but if we focus on tomorrow or next month, we are trying to control a future we do not have any control over. Nehemiah prayed in the moment for what he needed, and we need to live and focus on the now and what God has currently. We can have peace knowing we know the one who does hold tomorrow, next month, next year, and so on. God has each of your days in His hands, let his goodness and peace cover you today.
About this Plan
Anxiety is real, it is hard, it tries to physically and emotionally bind us. Anxiety is real my friends, and it can taint our perspective and instill so much fear of the unknown. Over the next couple of days, we will be looking through different stories in the Bible and learning from those who struggled and also taught on anxiety. There is hope in the midst of the trial!
