Walking in the WildernessSample
Leaning On Your Beloved
Recently I read the Song of Solomon in the Bible. In this short book of scripture, there is this one verse that says, "Who is this who comes up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?" (Song of Solomon 8:5) And without any thought, I declared these words – "I am!"
I have spent many a season feeling like I was wandering in a wilderness. But the only way up and out of a wilderness is by leaning on Jesus and not on our own understanding.
The wilderness – well, it can be a place of wandering, wanting, and waiting. Leaning upon our beloved Jesus implies that not only are we familiar with Him, but we are okay about being dependent upon Him; to lean completely, freely upon Him.
If your season has been like a wilderness, place your weary head onto the shoulder of the One who knows the way up and out. I did!
