Actively Pursue
Did you know that when you are a child of God, you’re a saint?
The apostle Paul didn’t reserve the word saint to describe someone who is unusually holy. In many of his letters, Paul addressed all believers as saints. Actually, a lot of the people he was writing to were acting like anything but saints. They were guilty of being divisive, bitter, immoral, and selfish, but Paul called them saints. So then, why did Paul call them saints? They were born again children of God.
When an unbeliever sins, he is doing what comes naturally. But when that sinner becomes a child of God, he is born again, set apart from Satan and the world. He now belongs wholly to God. He becomes a saint and is given a new heart. The Holy Spirit within him begins the lifelong process of transforming him into the likeness of Christ. As saints, we are to live as saints. As His true children, we will have a family resemblance: we’ll begin to look and act more and more like Him.
How are you, as a saint, actively pursuing holiness and growing into the image of Christ?
Lord help me as a saint, pursue holiness, I pray.
