OUR GOD IS LOVE IN ACTION

When my friends lost their 10 year old daughter in a sudden medical complication, they had the profound opportunity to bring life and healing to several other people through the gift of organ donation. Their daughter’s love for people, generosity of heart and vivacious nature literally became a living legacy in those grateful recipients.

Love is a verb – Our God is love in action- showing us the ultimate way to love in Jesus. 1 John 3:16 says, “This is how we have discovered love’s reality: Jesus sacrificed his life for us”. Love costs, love acts, love intervenes, love initiates. In the words of Bob Goff, “Love Does”. When we love others, showing practical kindness in even the smallest of ways, we are living out the very nature of our loving God.

But before we can really love anyone else – we find ourselves on the receiving end of His loving grace. Like a heart transplant recipient – it starts with recognising our need for His life-saving love and gratefully receiving it. Only then can we grasp the depth of what it’s like to really love like God does.

Reflection:

Mediate for a moment or two on all God has done for you. Consider the ways He has gone above and beyond to demonstrate to you personally how much He knows and cares for you. OUR GOD IS LOVE IN ACTION

Prayer:

Thank you, Jesus, that you demonstrated the ultimate love in action. There is nothing I could do to earn this love. I gratefully receive it. May this inspire me and equip me to love others with your heart.
