Embrace the Race: Persevering Through Challenging Times

DAY 3 OF 28

Perspective

When we face adversity, we are also faced with the choice to allow circumstances to make us bitter or better. Joseph chose to make the best of the situation and put his whole heart into every opportunity God had given him. As a result, Joseph found favor, and it became apparent to even those around him that God was with him.

In this passage, we see when faced with temptation, Joseph's choice to remain a person of integrity ultimately led to false accusations and imprisonment. However, God used Joseph's imprisonment to continue to refine his talents, abilities, and character. Hardship has a way of either making us or breaking us. In this story, we see that prison was part of Joseph's pathway to the palace.

Joseph faced a decision with this second betrayal; he had the choice to either blame those who had harmed him or continue to move forward. Satan, our enemy, loves to entrap us in bitterness. When we choose to hold on to the wrong done against us, we often find ourselves paralyzed from moving forward.

Daily Challenge:

How about you? Do you find yourself fixated on the wrong done against you rather than focusing on what God is doing in the present? Ask God to help you focus on the path forward and like Joseph, ask him to use your difficult circumstances to make you a better, not bitter, person.
