Smelling like JesusSample
After Noah came down from the ark with his family, he built an altar for God and offered only “pure” animals. Here, the sense of “smell” is introduced in the Bible, and it was not of man but of God. The Bible says that when God smelled the sweet aroma of the sacrifice, he declared to never curse the earth like that again. This is incredible! Look at how the pleasant aroma of our lives causes God to react. On day one of this plan, we read in Exodus that it was necessary to grind part of the aromatic mixture to powder, and then place it in front of the ark of the covenant where God would meet with Moses. How many times in our lives have we been crushed by problems, illnesses, debts, temptations or difficult situations? Most of the time we believe that this was only a negative for us, that we wasted time, and/or that we did not gain anything good. Nonetheless, it is the lowest moments of our lives that release the purest aromas from our hearts. These processes bring out the most sincere prayers from within us. If there is anything that shakes the heart of God, like any other parent, it is seeing His children suffer, mourn, or hurt. God is never indifferent to our pain, on the contrary, God knows your pain, understands it, and through Christ, suffers it with you. The most pleasing aroma to God is not a perfect and sinless life, but a broken and repented heart. Just as we see in the story of the woman with the perfume bottle, what everyone believed to be crazy, Jesus saw as beauty. I encourage you to break the jar surrounding your heart today and surrender all that you are at the feet of Jesus.
