Overcoming Anxiety: Your Biblical Guide To Breaking Free From Fear And Worry Sample
Put Satan Under Your Feet
Know this: You do not have to keep succumbing to Satan’s rule. Jesus already conquered Satan when He shed His blood for us on the cross. Let me tell you something, and I really want you to get this: There is power in the name of Jesus to cast down strongholds. Say that out loud with me: “There is power in the name of Jesus to cast down strongholds.” Say it again: “There is power in the name of Jesus to cast down strongholds.” We do not have authority over Satan and his schemes because of anything we have done. But because of what Christ did for us, we have that power. Thank God for that every day.
My friend, learn how to tell Satan to get under your feet. Jesus did that, and as a gift He gave us the authority to do the same. We need to walk in that authority. When you have an anxious thought or fear comes over you, exercise your birthright and say to that stronghold, “Get behind me in the name of Jesus.” Immediately replace that anxious thought with God’s Word and quote whatever Scripture you have hidden in your heart at that time. I can usually quickly pull up some favorites, such as, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18) or, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and self-control” (2 Tim. 1:7). We need to purposefully remind ourselves that God has given us a sound mind and self-control. That’s how we put Satan under our feet.
Prayer Focus: Spend time with God in prayer. Ask Him to help you to remember that there is power in the name of Jesus to break strongholds.
