Day 3- Provision For Relationships

One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24 (NIV)

•  Today’s Thought

It can be challenging to find life-giving friendships no matter what age or stage of life. As a working adult, it can get increasingly difficult to find strong, healthy friendships, especially if you are in a season where the demands between work and home leave little to no time for friendships. Friendships can also be challenging because of past experiences of hurt, rejection, feeling used, betrayed, and disappointed by people you thought were your "friends." We can even feel cut off and alienated from other people causing us to feel left out and alone. We can even be surrounded by people at work or school all day and still feel a sense of loneliness in our lives.  

We all need life-giving friendships in our lives that will walk in when others may walk out. A friend who will stick close, listen, care and offer support and encouragement in good times and bad. King Solomon reminds us in today's verse; "there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother or sister." It is God’s desire to bring friends into your life who love and accept you no matter what. Friends who will fill your relational cup and be a close confidant. Keep in mind that you will find plenty of people who also need your friendship if you look around. 

As we continue to pray this prayer of blessing over family, friends, and our future, let's pray that God will provide and bless us with friendships that honor Him and that He will help us to be a true friend that sticks close to someone else.

May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.  Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT) 

Lord, thank you for being that friend that sticks closer than anyone else. Thank you for loving me and accepting me, and choosing me as your friend. Today, I pray you will smile on my family and me today by providing positive, healthy, life-giving friendships. I pray that you will provide divine appointments by placing our family and me around the right people who will be a friend that sticks closer than a brother or sister. God, I also pray that you give me eyes to see and ears to hear who may need my friendship. As I pray for the right friendships, help me to be the right friend to others. In Jesus' name, Amen!
