Up! We Will Elevate (Week 6)Sample
Day One - I See The Good In Others
Welcome to this devotional for kids! Our ‘UP’ series is inspired by our ‘We Will Elevate’ DNA. We practice showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.
During this series, we want to truly grasp what it means to honor and elevate those around us, not just those who seem to be popular or the most important in our lives, but to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honoring each other’ that means everyone!
Follow along as we truly grasp what it means to honor and elevate those around us!
READ:
A Hole in the Roof in any children's Bible or Matthew 9:1-8.
We live in a world where people can be very unkind to others. The Bible teaches us to speak kindness to each other.
ASK:
How do you feel when someone has shown you kindness? Can you think of a time where a friend or a family member has been particularly kind to you?
"Kind words are like honey. Sweet to the soul and healthy for the body." (Proverbs 16:24)
The Bible has a lot to say about the power of your words. Kind words are a choice we have to make to speak kindness over one another.
As a challenge for you today, draw a picture of a friend, family member, leader, or teacher in the center of a page and write down (or ask your grown-up to help you) a few things you love about this person. What kind words can you say about them? Perhaps you can give this to them this week too!
REMEMBER:
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)
SAY:
Jesus, you show us how to be kind,
No greater love will we find.
Your deep love gives us great value,
Growing us as we learn more about you.
Our friend, our savior, our kind teacher,
Helping us see the good in each other.
Amen.
