Elijah. Man of Courage, Man of Faith, Man of God.

DAY 8 OF 22

King Ahab is blind to the truth

God has spoken by fire, and after the people have finally recognized Him as their one and only God, He will speak by rain. After three and a half years of drought, “there is a sound of the rushing of rain”.

But king Ahab seems to be blind to God’s hand behind all this. He has seen that God’s sacrifice was burnt to the ground and Baal’s sacrifice was not burnt at all, he has watched how Baal’s prophets were killed — and the most important thing he can think of is to go up “to eat and to drink”. At home, he tells his wife what happened. But notice what he does and does not tell her: “Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword” (1 Kings 19:1). He does not tell her that the Lord turned out to be the real God. He does not tell her that Baal proved powerless. He does not tell her that the Lord has finally given rain. He seems blind to spiritual truth.

Are your eyes open to spiritual truth?

Day 7Day 9

About this Plan

Elijah. Man of Courage, Man of Faith, Man of God.

The Bible is full of stories about people who try to live to God's glory - with ups and downs. Elijah is such a man. He is a prophet who serves God wholeheartedly, but is also prone to despondency and depression. He confronts the king fearlessly, but flees from the queen. And in all this, God continues to care for His servant.
