Praying Powerful Prayers
HOW TO PRAY SCRIPTURE OVER YOUR LIFE
In a time of crisis, we often hear, “All we can do is pray,” or “ I will be praying for you.” Acknowledging the need to pray is a wonderful thing. But too often, we think about prayer only after realizing we can’t fix the issue ourselves. When that is our perspective, we most likely see prayer as a last resort instead of a priority.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to “Continually be prayerful.” The word continually means “without intermission, incessantly, without ceasing.” It doesn’t suggest that we reserve prayer as our last-ditch effort when nothing else seems to work. Prayer is a constant connection and communication with God. God invites us to talk to Him about the big and small things in our lives. Instead of waiting for a crisis, pray and connect with God before the storm arises.
Do you quickly run out of words when you’re praying? Simply open up the Bible to a passage that applies to your situation, and pray that scripture over your life. Praying through Scripture gives us a new perspective and new words to speak to God. It helps us pray boldly, honestly, and confidently.
Here are Scripture references we can pray through at different times of our lives:
Hope - Isaiah 40:28-31
Protection- Psalm 91
Strength - 2 Timothy 1:7
Fear - Deuteronomy 31:6
Finances - Proverbs 3:9-10
Trust - Proverbs 3:5-6
PRAYER
Lord,
Thank You for always being with me. I’m sorry that I often go to You as a last resort, instead of seeking You first. Help me to look to You before anything or anyone else. Bless my prayer time that I may come closer to You and see the power of Your Word in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
