Overcoming Fear & Anxiety Sample
Write It Down.
Overcoming fear, anxiety and difficult circumstances in life shouldn’t be simply a great experience for you. Having peace that passes all understanding, a working knowledge of the power of God’s Word, and encountering His presence are the things that set you apart and let others know you carry something different, and it needs to be documented and shared.
Let the people around you in on how you’re able to overcome! Psalm 107:2 says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story,” and Revelation 12:11 takes it a step further in saying the enemy is defeated “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Your story is powerful! Don’t stay quiet about what God has done in your life.
The best way to share your story is to write it down along the way. Even if you don’t think God is doing anything significant, write down what you are seeing and experiencing. You won’t often recognize what’s happening in the moment, but you’ll be able to look back and point to where you’ve been and share how far God has taken you if you have notes written down to remind you! You’ll also have it to pass along for future generations to learn from.
Ephesians 4:29 makes a great point in stating, “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” It’s important to share your story, but how you choose to tell it is important. We all know what it’s like to be in the middle of a storm, but what we may not know is how to access the peace and presence of God in the midst of it. Let your words focus on the goodness of God and allow them to be encouraging to the person listening.
Grab a notebook or open the notes app on your phone and begin to write down your story. Describe your circumstances and where you see (or think you might see) God moving in the midst of them. Try creating a list of things you're grateful for in the moment, even if it’s something small like a hot cup of coffee on a rainy day. Make it a daily practice to continue writing things down and see how God is faithful to bring you from glory to glory.
