Life On MissionSample
It sure would be hard to say that we are a people that truly love our city, if we don’t also love the authorities that God has placed over us. This doesn’t mean that you need to run full speed at the next police officer you see and give them a hug, but there is a certain amount of respect and gratitude that we should all have. Likewise, you don’t have to have warm and fuzzy feelings about our president, congress or the government, but you do need to love them. Our immense love for God should permeate our whole lives and be especially recognizable in how we love the rulers and authorities that God has given us.
If you are unhappy with the economy, leadership and government, then you can take a proactive step. Instead of being negative, antagonizing and destructive with your words, try a different approach.
Praying for rulers and authority isn’t just for your benefit. It is good for you too. It is pleasing to God who desires wholeness and peace for all of us.
It is so rare that I ever get any mail that isn’t an advertisement or bill. The vast majority of mail that lands on the kitchen counter is junk or depressing! Your mission this week is to simply write a few letters. Write a letter to the president, your mayor or chief of police. Thank them for serving our country or your city. Speak blessings over them and celebrate them. They, like you and I, could use a little courage so take the time to put some courage in them. Indeed, be an encourager today! Feel free to add your mayor or city officials if not listed.
It will take a little effort on your part but that is why we have Google! Search for the mailing address of some of your city officials and the authorities in your life. Here is a list to get you started!
The President
State representative
City council
Mayor
Police Chief
Superintendent of Schools
Pray that God would help our leaders lead with integrity. Pray for their safety and well-being. Pray that they might come to the saving knowledge of who Jesus is.

About this Plan
Welcome to the Life on Mission devotional. We can often get overwhelmed with the demands of life and chaos of our world. We quickly forget that God has a mission for us while on earth. There are amazing things for you to see, do and accomplish and God empowers you to do all of them. This devotional is meant to get your life out of a rut and onto God’s mission for your life. Every third day there will be a “mission” for you to apply to your life. We’re God’s people, on a mission, to reflect his goodness to the entire world. Let’s do this!
