Justice

DAY 6 OF 30

THE RICHES OF POVERTY AND THE POVERTY OF RICHES

Christianity has always had a special message for the poor and the needy. We find in the Bible that during Jesus' ministry, when he was banished from the synagogues and took to the open road, hillside and sea side, it was the crowds of common men and women to whom His message came. James is not closing the door on the rich people. He is saying that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is especially dear to the poor.

The Gospel welcomes the man who has none to welcome and values the man whom the world regards valueless. James here is not condemning riches but he condemns the conduct of riches without sympathy. Christian workers and leaders must insist on the equality of all persons as children of God.

Dear God,
Bless those of us who are rich, to remember that we must hold all our possessions in stewardship for you. Bless those who are poor, and grant that we may be kind to them. - Amen

Here are the values that I stand for: honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated and helping that in need. To me, those are traditional values.

About this Plan

Justice

My inspiration for this 30 days Devotional is from prolonged theological discourses on Justice. My burning desire is to see that the Church becomes catalyst to stop violence against the poor. I am also grateful to Organizations who work relentlessly to secure Justice for the poor.
