The Gift of Shaping a Life
Children are a gift from God. Stewarding their lives is a blessing—maybe a stressful blessing at times, but still a blessing.
"Children are a heritage from the Lord" (Psalm 127:3).
There is a lot to stress about: the negative influences of today’s culture; the types of friends your kids hang out with; the enormous moral, financial, and spiritual responsibility; even about just knowing what to do day by day.
The more you think about it, the more intimidated you might feel. But God would not have given you such a wonderful gift if you weren’t capable of handling it.
Your first step is to believe you are vital to your child’s development—and you’re up to the task. And to believe that God will be at your side every moment.
Of course, good parenting doesn’t just happen. You will need to be intentional and:
• Think through what values you want your children to have;
• Decide how to model those values consistently;
• Make a plan for how to best shape the precious lives under your care.
Yes, intentional parenting is a daunting task, but it's also an amazing opportunity to shape a life for eternity.
