 <div class="label">8</div><div class="s2">Service of Priests and Levites</div><div class="p"> 1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick. 3And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses. 4And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.</div><div class="s2">The Levites</div><div class="p"> 5And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 6Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them. 7And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean. 8Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering. 9And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together: 10and thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites: 11and Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD. 12And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites. 13And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.</div><div class="s2">Their Service</div><div class="p"> 14Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine. 15And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering. 16For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me. 17For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself. 18And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel. 19And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.</div><div class="s2">Their Consecration</div><div class="p"> 20And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them. 21And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them. 22And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.</div><div class="s2">Period of Service</div><div class="p"> 23And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 24This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: 25and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more: 26but shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.</div>

 <div class="label">27</div><div class="d"> A Psalm of David.</div><div class="q1"> 1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?</div><div class="q2">The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?</div><div class="q1"> 2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh,</div><div class="q2">They stumbled and fell.</div><div class="q1"> 3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear:</div><div class="q2">Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 4One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;</div><div class="q2">That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,</div><div class="q2">To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:</div><div class="q2">In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.</div><div class="q1"> 6And now shall mine head be lifted up,</div><div class="q2">Above mine enemies round about me:</div><div class="q1">Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;</div><div class="q2">I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice:</div><div class="q2">Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.</div><div class="q1"> 8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee,</div><div class="q2">Thy face, LORD, will I seek.</div><div class="q1"> 9Hide not thy face far from me;</div><div class="q2">Put not thy servant away in anger:</div><div class="q1">Thou hast been my help;</div><div class="q2">Leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.</div><div class="q1"> 10When my father and my mother forsake me,</div><div class="q2">Then the LORD will take me up.</div><div class="q1"> 11Teach me thy way, O LORD,</div><div class="q2">And lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.</div><div class="q1"> 12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies:</div><div class="q2">For false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.</div><div class="q1"> 13 I had fainted,</div><div class="q2">Unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 14Wait on the LORD:</div><div class="q2">Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.</div><div class="b"></div>

 <div class="label">4</div><div class="s2">His Temptation</div><div class="p"> 1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6and saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written,</div><div class="q1">He shall give his angels charge concerning thee:</div><div class="q1">And in their hands they shall bear thee up,</div><div class="q1">Lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.</div><div class="m"> 7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9and saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.</div><div class="s1">His Work in Galilee</div><div class="p"> 12Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; 13and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,</div><div class="q1"> 15The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim,</div><div class="q1"> By the way of the sea, beyond Jordan,</div><div class="q1">Galilee of the Gentiles;</div><div class="q1"> 16The people which sat in darkness</div><div class="q1">Saw great light;</div><div class="q1">And to them which sat in the region and shadow of death</div><div class="q1">Light is sprung up.</div><div class="p"> 17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.</div><div class="s2">His First Disciples</div><div class="p"> 18And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.</div><div class="s2">Begins His Ministry</div><div class="p"> 23And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. 24And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. 25And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Jud&#230;a, and from beyond Jordan.</div>
