This I Know 

We cannot earn salvation by trying hard or being good enough: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9). Believing in Jesus brings the power of God into our lives, resulting in our salvation: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).

Have you had a defining moment when you chose to believe in Christ for yourself? Today is about the decision to choose Jesus as your Savior, King, and Rescuer and how important it is for you to be certain of that choice. Receiving His gift is as simple as declaring with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.

Here is a prayer to move these truths from your head to your heart, from facts you know to the faith you choose. The words of this prayer are not magical, but the ideas in this prayer hold all the power of the universe if you pray them from a heart of humility and faith to your Creator.

Dear Jesus,

I come to You, the almighty God, and I acknowledge that my life falls short. I have sinned and wronged You in many ways. Jesus, I thank You for dying on the cross for my sins and mistakes. Today I acknowledge You as Lord and Leader of my life. I repent and turn away from my pride. I believe in You with my heart, and I choose to follow You with my life. I want to receive Your free gift of salvation. Lord, help me live as a new creation now. I pray this in Your name and believing in Your work, Jesus. Amen.

The moment you place your faith in Jesus, something supernatural happens in your soul, in your life, and in your eternity. God breaks the chains of sin off you. He creates a place for you in His home and adopts you into His family.  God is your Father, and He loves you. You also have a spiritual family of other believers to journey with you and encourage you on the road to heaven.
