The Syllabus For Life's Course

DAY 5 OF 8

“Student Expectations”

In order to ensure success in one’s course students are expected and responsible for completing a series of tasks outlined by their instructor(s). As a professor I distribute syllabi to many students indicating what I expect from them and how following assigned tasks will potentially ensure their course success.

Examples of student expectations outlined in my syllabus include:
* Be on time!

* Attend class and participate in course discussions and activities

* Read and comprehend the syllabus and additional textbooks

* Complete required assignments and exams

* Ask for assistance regarding questions, concerns or complaints

* Keep copies of all paperwork, including the syllabus, handouts, and assignments

All expectations are important but the one I particularly expect students to follow as they journey through any course is “keep copies of all paperwork, including the syllabus, handouts & assignments.”  The reason I emphasize this expectation is so students intentionally keep track of their academic progress.

 It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of their growth and improvement in the courses they take. Keeping track of all paperwork can assist students in their studies and review.

Most importantly keeping up with all their paperwork will serve helpful in the event a discrepancy takes place and an instructor gives them the wrong final grade. Students are then able to effectively dispute their grade because they have documented records of their progress and completed assignments.

Furthermore, we too have paperwork in the form of: answered prayers, deliverance, breakthroughs, turning points, favor, miracles, God's word and more. It is expected of us as students of God’s word to keep track of our spiritual progress in the course of life and to hold on to the promises God has placed in our hearts and the promises stated in His word.

We will have many assignments but journaling your prayers, reading God’s word, and remaining faithful we as students can go back through our paperwork and discuss our covenant rights with God and rebuke the adversary.

We can share our progress and development with others. We can also review what God has brought us through.  So when the adversary attempts to state that you are not doing well in the course of life and you won’t pass, you remember what God has already done and declare your documented progress by giving him the glory and praise.

Don’t throw away your paperwork!

Prayer:

God thank you for everything you've done and what you are doing for me during the course of my life. I don’t want to ever forget how you've kept me and carried me through. It is expected of me to remember your lovingkindness, grace, and mercy, I praise you and thank you. In Jesus name, AMEN.
