Real Mature: What You Can Do to Grow Your FaithSample

Real Mature: What You Can Do to Grow Your Faith

DAY 5 OF 5

We all know THAT person. The one who makes the dumb decisions, says the ridiculous things, goes a little too far? You know somebody who has some growing up to do right? Somebody who is, “Real mature,”? For most of us, it is easy to see the need for growth in others but the truth is… we ALL have some growing up to do, regardless of our age. Everybody can grow and age often has nothing to do with it. Some teenagers are significantly more mature than some adults. Some children could probably be leading their parents.

When it comes to maturity, it’s not always about age. The truth is that maturity is about the willingness of our hearts to trust and learn from God.

As we wrap up the REAL MATURE devotional we want to get really personal. Take a look:

Jesus is talking to Peter and said this:

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

If we are growing in Jesus we will love others. His great love for us should overflow from our lives and impact others. We will grow real maturity if we take time to lean into Him, let Him grow us and then take that to our world. God wants to grow us. God wants to use us. God wants to grow you. God wants to use you.

Part of maturity is deciding what you do with what you know.

You now know that He uses good soil, tough times, trials and challenges to grow our faith. You know He uses others grow our faith. You know he is in the growing business.  As you move forward in your desire be become more like Jesus, the ball is now in your court. You can become really mature as you choose to trust and grow in Him. Ask him today to help you grow.

Think About It:

As you think about this devotional, which “area” of your life do you see God working in the most right now? (Good soil, tough moments, trials, doing life with others)

Which of those growth sources do you need to trust Him with right now?

Take a moment and think about how you can grow in your maturity. What’s the wise next step? Don’t be afraid to invite someone into the conversation to help you navigate that wisely.

Pray:

God, thank you that you care about me so much that you want to grow me. It’s amazing how much you believe in me. Help me to lean into you and be good soil. Help me to trust you when things don’t go my way. Help me to see trials as an opportunity for trust and help me to lean into others to keep sharpening and growing in you. Help me be really mature in you, God. Amen.

Day 4

About this Plan

Real Mature: What You Can Do to Grow Your Faith

Everybody knows somebody who never grew up and while immaturity can me fun and silly at times, it gets old pretty quickly. God has a plan for us to move beyond the early stages of faith and into a mature faith that stands strong when trouble comes. Don't stay young in faith. Trust the process that leads to growth and become the person you already know you want to become.
