DAY 3 OF 5

Saying No to Bitterness and Yes to Thankfulness

My family was confessing “no evil shall befall us nor come near our dwelling” (Psalm 91:10) before Covid-19 entered our home. When it entered our home, we refused to become bitter and blame God. We knew the enemy was out to steal our health. In our weakness, we refused to conclude that confessing God’s Word does not work. We purposed in our hearts that our experience was not going to change our minds about God’s promises. So, we stayed thankful. It was difficult and I cried. Yet, I stayed thankful. I felt deeply that questioning God was not the best thing to do during that season. So, I thanked God even more for his faithfulness to show mercy and heal.

Thankfulness has a wonderful way of eradicating worry. In thanksgiving, we get to focus on positive things. When we reflect on the good things God has done, our attention is taken off our worries. This stirs up hope and gratitude. God surely knows us so well, that’s why he told us to replace our anxiety and worries with prayer and thanksgiving. It takes hope to pray and it takes a heart of gratitude to give thanks.

Do you have unanswered prayers? Do not give bitterness and doubt a place. Are you worried about your pregnancy, what your birth experience wI’ll look like, or finances to care for your newborn? Please, do not worry. Reflect on God’s goodness. Think about the numerous times God showed up for you in the past. Think about the miracle of life and God’s faithfulness to fulfill what is written in his Word. Let gratitude and hope arise in you. Give thanks for the victory Jesus already won for you!
