Devotional On The Life Of MosesSample
"God’s plans for you are more than you can imagine."
After the ten plagues came upon Egypt, their fortunes changed. The final plague was against the eldest sons in Egypt, who were also worshipped as gods. But God Himself had a plan for the Israelites. God told Moses who in turn had to tell them to sacrifice an unblemished lamb and apply the blood on the doorposts of their homes. Then when the plague hit Egypt, the angel of death would ‘Passover’ the blood of the lamb and keep the household safe. This was at this time God began their calendar and their Feasts. The Israelites were to observe this calendar all their lives, and they still do even today. Thousands of years later, at the time of John the Baptist, when Jesus appeared in their midst, John’s cry was, ‘Behold the Lamb of God, that takes away the sin of the world’ (John 1:29). Jesus became that Lamb for the entire world. Therefore His blood can release us from all bondage even as the sacrificed lamb in Egypt did on that awesome day releasing the Israelites from the bondages in Egypt.
The next day the Israelites left Egypt. But soon there they were ‘entangled in the land’ (Exodus 14:3), stuck between the Red Sea and the mountains. It was here that God told them to take a stand before they saw one of the most astounding miracles recorded in human history, the parting of the Red Sea. When they all had crossed over, the Red Sea came back to its original state and thus destroyed Pharaoh and his armies. Thus they never saw these enemies again ever.
God has great plans for you. In Jer 29:11, the Bible says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" These plans are to release you, to set you free from not only the past but from every bondage or burden that slows you down in your day-to-day walk with Christ.
But first your heart needs to realise that sin is what is causing you to be ‘entangled in the land’. You need a miracle. The first miracle in your life must be that you must be born again and receive Jesus, the true Lamb of God in your heart and life. It is only His blood that was shed on the cross on which He died, that can release you from every bondage of sin that entangles you. Give your heart to Him today.
Then go on from here. Trust God to ‘part’ your personal Red Sea and destroy those things that have stopped you from becoming the person you need to be. Today is a new day indeed. Your time starts now!
