The Secret Power of GraceSample
Grace Isn’t Cheap—But It Is Free
Did you read today’s title carefully? It’s a bit of a puzzle. It sounds like a contradiction: not cheap, but free. Um, isn’t “free,” like, really cheap?
Here’s the thing to remember: Grace is a gift. It’s free—but only for people. It wasn’t free to God. He paid with the life of His own Son, Jesus. Watch this video to learn how God’s free gift is offered to save the world!
Isn’t that the best news ever? You win! You win today with closeness to God. You win forever with an eternal home in heaven! God’s grace is free, it’s for everyone, and it’s a win-win to solve the cost of sin and restore our friendship with God.
Today, as you read from the book of Romans, chapter six, really focus on verse 23. Our video from today used the NLT version of the Bible. Maybe it will be helpful for you to read that version today, too.
Ask yourself: God chooses to forgive you every time you ask Him. Do you ever struggle to forgive yourself? What are the sins you have trouble forgiving yourself for and moving on from? For example: You lied to a parent about how much homework you had, but you finally came clean. You apologized to them and to God, but you still feel bad and guilty. How can you shake that guilt and walk in the grace God gives you?
Challenge yourself: Okay, you know what to do. Grab your paper you’ve been using the last few days. Write “Romans 6:23” on it. When you do your reading today, copy the words from Romans 6:23 on your paper. Reminder: If you’d like to read and copy the same words you saw in today’s video, use the NLT version of the Bible.
Pray: God, thank You for the free gift of grace and eternal life You offer us through Jesus! It’s amazing. I can’t earn this gift, but I am so happy that Jesus made a way for me to accept it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
