The early church lived in a staggeringly unique way compared to the rest of the culture. In fact, they lived in a staggeringly unique way to any culture! The early believers in Christ shared everything they had. They were united as one, giving to each other whatever they had so that none of them would have an unmet need. 

The resurrection of Christ was at the forefront of their minds. They lived with the constant reminder that Jesus could return at any moment, and there was much work to do for the kingdom. They prioritized one another and the work of spreading the gospel. The resurrection changed their perspective on their resources. They gave out of faith, knowing that God had provided for them and would continue to provide for them. By living out of faith, they lived in unity with one another and unity with Christ.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the wonderful example of the early church. Help me to be united with other believers in this type of community. Help us to view our resources as Yours alone, and allow us to be generous and willing to share. Amen.
