Face To Face: PrayerSample
Good job making it to Day 2! Jesus said that Christians don't just live off of food, we also live off of the Word of God. He meant that for a follower of Jesus, hearing from God (by reading the Bible) and talking to God (by praying) is something we need. Just like food fuels the body, being face to face with God fuels the soul.
Here's some context for what we are reading today. Jesus has been invited to dinner at a Pharisee's house. The Pharisees were religious leaders who were very, very strict about how people behaved. They didn't like being around "bad people," which is why when a "sinner" shows us the Pharisee freaks out. He thinks Jesus should be angry or disgusted. But Jesus loves the woman and the Pharisee, so instead he tells a story.
The point of the story isn't that the woman is worse than the Pharisee, and that's why she loves more. The Pharisee is a sinner just like the woman, he just doesn't realize it. Jesus is making the point that it is a good thing to realize you are a sinner, because you can't ask God to forgive you if you don't think you need forgiving! But once you realize how much sin you have and how kind God is to you, then you can be kind and forgiving to others.
Use this story about Jesus' life to guide a prayer to God. As you read the story, pick out the one truth that makes the biggest impression on you. Then ask: What awesome thing about God does this truth tell me? How does this truth show me a sin I need to confess? How does it show me something to ask God for?
Turn the answers to those three questions into a prayer: tell God how He is awesome, confess a sin to him, then ask God for the things that are on your heart.

About this Plan
Many of us feel like we experience God on spiritual mountain tops like camp or a really good night at youth group. Those experiences make us feel passionate and motivated to change! But what about the times between? We need to realize that God doesn’t want you to live mountain top to mountain top, or even church service to church service. He has invited you to live Face to Face.
