Love God Greatly - Galatians

DAY 18 OF 40

Paul states that the covenant between God and Abraham was fulfilled by Jesus Christ. The law came 430 years after the God’s covenant of faith was made to Abraham, so the law came after faith. God’s covenant of faith didn’t require mediation. It was an unconditional promise made to Abraham regardless of his behavior.

The purpose of the law was to reveal humanity’s utter sinfulness, inability to save themselves, and their desperate need for a Savior. Once Jesus wrapped Himself in flesh and presented Himself on earth, He fulfilled the law.

In what ways are you trying to hold on to the old covenant relationship with the Lord? Are you busy trying to complete a daily spiritual checklist to earn God’s love and approval?

Father God, I thank You for freedom from my sin, from my past, from my struggles. Lord, I wrestle most days walking in that freedom, and I need Your patience and grace as Your Word works within me. Lord, allow my opinion of myself to decrease so that Your love and vision for me may increase in my life. Remind me always that my worth is not dependent on what I do or what people say, but rather on who I am in Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
