Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
The Spirit Said to Him
Acts 10:19-20
“While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, ‘Simon, three men are looking for you. So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.’”
Why did Peter break the Jewish dietary laws and travel to the home of a Gentile?
He was sent on a mission by God to share the gospel. God communicated to Peter through a vision and the Spirit to make his will clear.
Does God still communicate his mission purposes to us today?
God’s word is clear; however, we need God’s Spirit to personally apply his word to our lives. We too are called to go. The timing and focus of where we “go” as we join Jesus’ mission requires prayer and God’s direction. Peter was in prayer as he received this direction regarding a mission to the house of Cornelius. Prayer is the language of the kingdom and gives God the opportunity to communicate with us.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you speak today through the Holy Spirit. I too, desire to honor and obey your assignments for me, for your glory.
