Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
The Name of Jesus
Acts 4:7, 10, 12, 29, 31
“…By what power or what name did you do this?...It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth…there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved…enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness…And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”
I wonder if there is clarity about the name in which we speak or minister to others?
Do our own names or organizations get more visibility that the name of Jesus?
The key to boldness and impact for the early disciples was the Holy Spirit. The healing of the man crippled from birth opened up a whole debate, a riot, and then a prayer meeting. When we speak in our own name, we lack the transformational impact of the Holy Spirit. Boldness which comes from the power of the Holy Spirit is expressed with a clear focus on Jesus Christ, and with great humility.
Lord Jesus, may you increase and I decrease. May your name be lifted higher and may those around me be drawn to you.
