Every Word, a Reader's 90-Day Guide to the BibleSample
- God continues to send prophets to identify sin and pronounce judgment in order to turn the people’s hearts back to Him. To a people bent on disobedience and idolatrous worship, God calls out with messages of eternal hope. Notice the themes of sin, judgment, and hope as you read about the final days of Judah.
- Obadiah is God’s judgment directed at Edom, descendants of Esau, who “stood aloof” (verse 11) and cheered on Judah’s enemies.
- The end of Judah has come. Because of their rebellion, the city is destroyed and the remaining people are carried away to Babylon. Grieve that the spectacular temple where God dwelled among the people has been utterly destroyed and burned.
