The Sweet Fragrance of Worship

In the Scriptures, we come to find that God gave various instructions and directions for worship. The why, where, how - even to whom! In some cases, ‘worship’ was even rejected (Malachi 1:6-9). With this in mind, it’s important to note that worship in a manner that meets with the person’s individual comfort, just won’t do.  

Worship must be on God’s terms for it to be acceptable. Worship is a product of intimacy and surrender, and you can only know what God’s terms are for worship by spending time with Him. Only then can you find out what is acceptable to Him. When you make yourself available in this way the Spirit of truth will move you and will work within you to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. 

Worship is beautiful and attractive. Worship is thoughtful, just like a spouse considers thoughtfully what his/her partner would love or appreciate, and seeks to meet his/hers needs to the best of their ability. Worship is giving in and choosing God's will over everything else.

The absolute truth of the matter is that God doesn’t need our worship. With or without it, He is still God. However, He desires our worship. Equally, our offering of worship must be desirable to God. He deserves no less than our best.

Our worship must be intentional, thoughtful, filled with love—the crème de la crème of what we have to offer. Worship is not merely reserved for church services or for musical moments. Worship transcends our daily and weekly church and religious activities.  A simple definition of worship is: the heart of man beating in sync with the heart of God - together as one. 

When we worship in the right way, the sweet (spiritual) fragrance of our worship becomes too strong for God to ignore and equally too strong for those around us not to notice. Our worship lifestyle can inevitably draw others to God.

Be thoughtful in your worship today and every day. Take it deeper by delving deeper into seeking to know more of God and thereby intensifying the level of your relationship with Him. 

I pray that our worship, indeed our lives will be a Christ-like, sweet-smelling fragrance rising up to God.  Amen #WisdomTruth
