Being Open Isn't Easy

Being open is great, but it isn’t easy. There will be times when you’ll wind up going back on whatever you’re trying to achieve. You’ll slip into your old ways of thinking and acting. You’ll trip over some temptation you didn’t see coming.

That’s okay. It’s tough, but okay. Because even though you know you have to pass this dreadful turn of events on to your accountability partner, you also know that any rebuke they have for you will be coming from a place of love, in the same way your rebuke of them will come from that same place.

And you’ll be acting scripturally, as you can see in today’s reading. So when the time comes to receive rebuke, accept it, note it, and then rely on the grace of Jesus to keep moving forward, operating from a place of forgiveness.

Prayer: First and foremost, Lord, I thank You that I am forgiven. Thank You for putting people into my life who have the courage and strength to set me straight when I’ve wandered, and who do so out of love, who want to be a tangible expression of Your forgiveness. Thank You for grace. Amen.
