Take A Mission Trip To Your WorkplaceSample
MISSION TRIP: DAY ONE
We’re going to be NICER.
We’re ready to BLESS others.
We’ve been praying and we’re ready to go!
Over the next five days, we’re going on a MISSION TRIP to our work! And we’re going to do it Jesus-style – by spending time with others who need it.
Today, be on the lookout to see what God has in store for you to do.
Quite likely, the person God has brought to your mind could use a word of encouragement or a listening ear.
It could be that they’re struggling with something at work: a difficult boss, a challenging assignment, or impossible co-workers.
Or perhaps their challenges lie outside of work: financial issues, marriage difficulties, problems with kids, or health of a loved one.
Or maybe they’re just lonesome because they’re avoided at work and have few or no real friends.
On the other hand, it could be that they’ve got a work persona that makes it look like they have it all together without any problems at all.
Whether you are aware of any issues or not, is actually not important.
God knows.
God knows that person better than you ever will. And God also knows what that person needs – and how you might help.
But be careful!
Sometimes what you think is an obvious choice is different to God’s plan. Remember Ephesians 2:10? God has surely prepared the good works for you to do – you just need to find it!
So pray about it.
Pray with the Spirit’s help – including quiet times in your prayer as necessary. Pray for wisdom and courage. Pray for the right timing, insights and words. Pray that God be glorified. And, lift it all up in the name of Jesus.
Then, as you go through the day be on the lookout for the opportunities.
It may be just a few minutes of conversation, or it might be lunch together. Just be sure to pray through the day until you see God providing the opportunity for your action – and then do it!
The objective of the MISSION TRIP to your work is to reach out and show kindness, to show compassion, to give a listening ear, just like Jesus did. The goal is not to solve any problems, but just to be available.
And, once the door begins to open and you stay focused on being available, then God will show you what’s next – but that’s for another day, isn’t it?
PRAYER
Father God, I love you. And I trust you as I step out in faith to join You on this MISSION TRIP. Hear my prayers for wisdom and boldness. Confirm to me the good works that you have prepared so that I may do them – and do them well. Amen
