God Is Close To You By Nina SmitSample
Let Your Work Inspire You
God has placed us on Earth to work.
While still in paradise, God commanded Adam and Eve to tend to the garden and to take care of it (see Genesis 2:15). It is important to choose a career that is not only an inspiration to you but will also be an inspiration to others.
Always try to follow your passion in your work. When I had to choose a field of study, I knew that I had to choose a job in which I could combine my passion for words, books and people. And I have enjoyed every moment as a librarian. Once I started to write, I realized that this was a gift from God, and it continues to bring me joy and fulfillment.
The work you do should not only be an inspiration to you, but also to those who see it. One of my friends does beautiful handcraft and worked together with a number of women to create a beautiful quilt that portrays God creating the world. For many years it was on display at our church and every time I looked at it, I remembered this friend, who eventually passed away after being diagnosed with a motor neuron disease.
Do your work with joy, as if doing it for the Lord (see Colossians 3:23). And look for employment in which you can live out your talents and abilities.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the privilege of having a job that is an inspiration, and to be busy with the calling You have placed on my life. Help me to always do my work as if for You alone. Amen.
