The Lord Who Heals YouSample
JUST SAY THE WORD
Matthew 8:8 NIV……But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
In Matthew 8, a Roman Centurion comes to Jesus, demonstrating the understanding that a word from Him is enough for a healing to take place, and in this case, without the sick person even being present. Jesus celebrates this Centurion’s faith that allows a healing to take place this way, revealing the power in the spoken word of God.
It started by Jesus responding to the Centurion’s request with “I will come and heal him”. For us, Jesus has already come to heal us through bearing sickness on our behalf and providing healing for us.
The centurion replies “just say the word and my servant will be healed”. He understood how authority works; that just as he had authority under the Roman government and that when he spoke it carried the power of the government he served, Jesus was operating under God’s authority and that everything else was under His authority. When Jesus spoke, it carried the power of God.
When Jesus was on earth, while being fully God He had laid down all His rights as God (Philippians 2:6-8) and operated as a man anointed by the Holy Spirit, giving us an example of how He wants us to live. As God created everything by the Spirit moving on His Word, He continues to create by the Holy Spirit moving when we believe in our heart and speak out His Word.
In Romans 1:16, Paul writes ‘I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ (the Word of God) for it is the power of God unto salvation (which includes healing) for everyone who believes’ . The Word of God is the power of God when believed upon. The power to bring it to pass lies dormant, just as the life or DNA lies in a seed, until faith is applied to it. Then that seed of the Word bursts open and the life of God is released to bring that Word to pass.
So, we can declare the Word by faith and release healing into our bodies and those we are praying for. God watches over His word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12) and has declared that His word, when sent out, will not return without results (Isaiah 55:11).
About this Plan
Jesus provided healing for us just as much as forgiveness through His finished work of the Cross. God has not made this difficult to receive but a simple faith that focuses on seeing Jesus and what He has already done for you, positions you for the power of God that is enough to heal 'every kind of sickness and every kind of disease'.
