Lifestyle Of WorshipSample
More Than A Song
Proverbs 21:3 (TPT)
To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
What an eye opener this verse is to all of us who long to worship Jesus through our music and worship sets. Coming to an understanding that worship is more than a song, it's more than a melody, it's more than music or even lyrics will take you halfway through the revelation about worship.
Then, what is worship or a lifestyle of worship all about?
God put this definition in my heart about worship, and I believe it will resonate with your heart as well:
Worship is the posture of our heart bowing before God with an attitude of giving Him priority and glory in and through our lives.
So, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a song or a worship set.
King Solomon defines worship as doing what is right and acceptable to the Lord. In simple words, he is stating that pleasing God through our day-to-day activities is part of worship. I am grateful to God for this revelation in our hearts today as we read the Scriptures.
For God, our songs and music will make no sense if we are just singing songs without our hearts being aligned to Him and His heart. He will truly take delight in our worship when our heart is set right before Him.
I am reminded of the offering of Abel and Cain. What made the difference between the brothers was their heart and attitude in offering the best to the Most High God.
Now, there’s the catch. It wasn’t about the offering, but it was about the heart.
Our worship to God will be pleasing to Him when He accepts us before our songs.
Romans 12:1 (TPT) says that “I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.”
Songs and music are part of offering our worship to Jesus but the lifestyle of worship is more than a song.
The lifestyle of worship definitely means living a life that is acceptable to God and living it with a posture of our hearts devoted and inclined to the Great I Am.
Oh, how my heart longs to worship Jesus!
