In Galatians, Paul wants us to know the Gospel is all we need for all our lives—past, present, future and everything in between.
The Gospel is all we need for our unity with God. The Galatians were not at risk of missing the Gospel by refusing to obey God. They were at risk of missing the Gospel by relying on their own obedience to God.
They needed to hear what we need to hear. Jesus not only died as the perfect substitute for our sins; He also lived as the perfect substitute for our righteousness. Our sins are pinned to Christ, and His righteousness is imputed to us.
This frees us to obey Him as His dearly loved children who have His favor, by His grace; not as His insecure, fearful servants, still seeking His favor by our works.
The Gospel is all we need for our obedience to God. Galatians beautifully shows us how God not only sent His son to save us, but also His Spirit to dwell in us, seal us in Christ and empower us to obey Him.
The Gospel is truly all we need for all our lives. May it lift you, fill you, encourage you and empower you as you read through this glorious testimony of the sufficiency of the Gospel in uniting us to God as His children.
Each reading of Galatians is paired with a selection from the psalms, the prayer-book of the Bible.
