The Triangle Of What Controls YouSample
Identity Shift -> Mindset Shift -> Habit Shift -> ?
The last piece works a little differently than the ones that came before it.
Instead of simply building up, or sitting atop the structure we already built with our identity, mindset, and habits, the final piece wraps itself around the entire triangle as a whole.
And that piece is our words.
I believe that Paul had Proverbs 18 in mind when he wrote Colossians 3. He understood that words “have the power of life and death” which is why as he constructed the framework for how to live in Christ, and how to enjoy the transformation and power available to every single one of us…
He knew if we didn’t get our language in the right place, nothing else would matter. Even more important, if we continued to let our tongues say whatever they wanted, nothing in our lives would change.
Again and again, throughout the passage, he brings our attention back to our tongue, or lips, or words:
- Rid yourself…of filthy language
- Do not lie to each other
- Admonish (or encourage) one another with all wisdom
Our words are the binding force of true transformation. They either make every other shift possible or destroy our chances of experiencing everything God has for us.
Our lives are a product of our words, for better or worse. We must take them seriously.
Now that you have the final piece in place, we will discover exactly how to bring them all together so that we can take back control!
