Becoming In FaithSample
BECOMING is the second stage. You are seeking the Word and realizing who God says you are. You still hear the voice of the stranger, but the shepherd's voice is becoming more recognizable.
There is a lot of struggle at this stage because you don’t know which voice is right. Your past and daily failures make it difficult to accept the truth God is revealing.
Maybe you struggle with: "Which one is the right voice? Which one is true?” I feel like I am unloved, alone, unworthy, but God says I am loved, valued, and never alone. There is a tug-of-war between your soul and your spirit.
As you obtain the truth of who you are in Christ, start boldly declaring it. Write it down. Repeatedly read and declare it.
When the past, lies, old labels, and negative words rear, take every thought captive! As you think in your heart, you will become.
You are His beautiful, new creation so declare it: “I have the mind of Christ. I am loved. I am enough. I am smart. I am quick. I’m bright. I’m sharp. I’m a total blessing. I’m beautiful. I’m wealthy.” You may not believe these truths at first, yet there is a hope building inside you that thinks it could be true. You have to do it - it’s work. It’s not easy to stop at every single combative, self-deprecating thought, but you must to eventually BECOME who you already are in Christ!
This stage may last a while. For me, it went on forever. I’m still in it in some areas. You can be free in one area but in complete bondage in another. We are continually growing in these stages. But this stage is incredible because you do hear His voice and fall more in love with God.
In this stage, you haven’t overcome the battle. You might be dealing with some bitterness or offense. You may be defensive toward others when they try to tell you who you are not. You will overcome and may eventually become unoffendable! Recognize and rejoice that this season is passing quickly. Start praising God. “Thank you, God, that this is who you made me. I may not believe it yet, but I will.” The more you seek him in the secret place and read his word, the quicker you will BECOME who you already are!

About this Plan
In this reading plan, we are going to talk about the three stages to becoming like Christ. First, Unbecoming - which we are all unbecoming before Christ; The Becoming Stage - as we are learning to take our thoughts captive; and finally, the I Have Become who God says I am. Do you want to love others well? Then let’s become who God already says we are!
