When Your Bad Meets His GoodSample
DAY FIVE: Know God. Reflect God.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Ps. 139:14). We owe it to ourselves and to Him to become our best selves, using our talents for something beautiful and worthy. Submitting to Him this way takes staying power. That staying power is faithfulness, and it is supported by determination.
Everyone has moments of wavering or indecision. But know this: when you are undecided, you can be easily swayed. When you are determined and decide, for example, that your crisis is temporary and your family will make it, Satan cannot not steal your joy or rob your blessings. When you remain committed to your decision, no force in hell can take you down.
I remember realizing that I absolutely had to take a stand. I knew very little about the Bible so I purchased a children’s picture Bible (seriously!) and learned the stories most Christians already knew. I wanted to know everything about God. That meant starting with His Word, which is Jesus Christ Himself. Until I knew His Word, I could not know God. My journey to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior had begun. I would soon meet the One who “[upholds] all things by the word of His power” (Heb. 1:3).
About this Plan
Let’s get real: pain is part of life. There’s no escaping heartbreak, disappointment, and anxiety. What matters is how you play the cards you are dealt. Adapted from the book, "When Your Bad Meets His Good" by Kimberly Jones-Pothier, this devotional shows you how to turn your pain into purpose.
